Books4Babies Program

Every family with a newborn in Prince William
newborn baby sleeping holding stuffed animal County goes home from the hospital with a children's book, developmental milestone guide, and early learning resources. Trained volunteers educate families about the importance of learning through repetition and reading aloud to children beginning in infancy.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that parents read to their children every day, from birth through the beginning of kindergarten. Start reading today!

Reading tips:

  • Cuddle and read with emotion.

  • Reading exposes your baby to sounds and helps their language grow.

  • Choose colorful, simple, and sturdy books.

  • Talk about the pictures.

  • It's okay if your baby doesn't understand the words.

  • Laugh and have fun!

  • Text BABY (or BEBE for Spanish) to 511411 to receive free text messages on topics such as developmental milestones, immunizations, nutrition, safe sleep, safety, and more.
